Q:

From Yitzchak sassoon:

12/28/2017

What is the syrian minhag regarding how long to say kadish for a parent? Do you say for the whole 12th month or only a portion of it.

A:

Rabbi:

The mourner recites the Kaddish for a portion of the 12th month, not for the entire month. The more common custom I have seen is that the mourner stops reciting the Kaddish at the end of 11 months for 1 week, and then the mourner resumes reciting kaddish until the end of the 12th month.
